Barbara Dodson has operated a private music studio for over 45 years, teaching piano, keyboards, and organ. She has also been an active church musician, serving as pianist, organist, handbell director, and director of choral music. Her compositions include works for piano, organ, instrumental ensembles, handbells, and choir.
Ms. Dodson became a member of the Musician’s Union at the young age of 17 and worked as a pianist with big bands and other instrumental combos. She earned a teacher certificate, graduating from the Sherwood Music School with an emphasis in composition. Additional studies include Ouachita Baptist College and Henderson College (both in Arkadelphia, AR), the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, and the University of Oklahoma - Norman. Dodson is an active member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and has served as a (NGPT) judge for over 40 years. She is a NGPT certified teacher and was inducted into the organization’s Hall of Fame.
Barbara Dodson enjoys international travel and has led many student groups throughout Europe for summer study and college credit.
