A spirited arrangement and perfect for second year orchestras! Includes some foot stomping and finger tapping, not to mention a few “high fives” here and there. A hint of fiddling is also thrown in to bring the piece to a grand close. Starts in G Major, modulates to C Major, then moves into D Major.

Although this programmatic work is set throughout in E minor, it contains three contrasting sections which visit 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8 time. The “lady of the lake” is the mysterious woman associated with the legend of King Arthur. In fact, she is the one who gives Arthur his famous sword, Excalibur. Woolstenhulme does an expert job of offering great learning tools in this piece, yet it is a superb concert and festival work. All in 1st position.
