As students gradually progress through the series, they will experience jazz voicings, walking bass, swing rhythms, improvisational passages, blues, and jazz ballads. Well-known New York jazz composer Larry Minsky introduces students to the rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic elements of the jazz style. His elementary and intermediate collections feature upbeat teacher accompaniments with carefully written jazz voicings and riffs. Arletta O’Hearn, master of the jazz style, intersperses classical and jazz elements which allow students of all abilities to perform jazz.
